Do you have a favorite holiday gift cake recipe? One that you share with neighbors and friends? This is one of our chef’s favorites. Initially, this recipe was printed in an old church cookbook from the 1940s. Over time, the spices and flavors have been adjusted to be a little more gourmet, but the concept of this cake is the same. It uses fresh apples in the batter that are diced into chunks. When it is baked and sliced, apple pieces are perfectly cooked and spread throughout the cake. For an elegant touch, we drizzled the finished cake with orange marmalade glaze. It keeps the cake moist and adds a festive shine. Enjoy!
